Cats are pretty popular pets. One reason for that is because they are very easy keepers. In fact, Fluffy may very well be the most independent, out of all of the animals we’ve domesticated. That doesn’t mean your kitty is completely self-sufficient, though. A local vet lists some of the things your furry pal requires in this article.
Food
Any good pet care routine places a high priority on good nutrition. While buying Fluffy’s food isn’t rocket science, there are things to consider. You’ll need to decide whether to feed her kibble, wet food or both. It’s also important to pick good food, one that’s appropriate for your kitty’s lifestyle, age, and health. Ask your vet for recommendations.
Water
Hydration is not only crucial to your feline pal’s survival, but also important to her overall health. Many cats prefer to drink running water, so you might want to get Fluffy a fountain. If you let your furry buddy go out and/or have more than one kitty, put out extra water bowls.
Beds
A love of naps is one thing our feline friends all have in common despite their unique differences. Fluffy may spend as much as 20 hours a day snoozing! Offer your sleepy pet lots of comfy napping spots and beds. (That includes lap space.)
Toys/Enrichment
Fluffy can’t spend all of her time sleeping. She will need stimulation and enrichment. Be sure to offer her plenty of playthings. Cats all have their own unique tastes, so pay attention to what your feline buddy likes. Veterinary Care
Our feline buds tend to be fairly hardy, but to thrive they need great health care. Fluffy will need regular exams, as well as vaccines and parasite control. We also recommend getting your cat spayed/neutered and microchipped. To ensure your cat stays healthy and protected, schedule regular check-ups with our Vet Wellness & Pet Vaccinations service.
Grooming
Most cats are pretty good about keeping themselves clean, but longhaired kitties do need some help here. Fluffy will also need more assistance with her beauty regime as she gets older.
Kitty Must-Haves
A clean litterbox is at the top of this list! Fluffy will also appreciate catnip, kitty furniture, scratching posts, and, of course, the occasional empty box.
Love
Love is the special ingredient here. Pay attention to Fluffy and spend time with her. Talk to her, pet her, and offer her lap space. Purrs are truly precious!
